The main objective of the project is to advance in the understanding of environmental risk assessment of oil diffuse sources in harbour areas. The specific goals of the project are:
- To improve the tools to estimate the potential affected area of oil diffuse sources by implementing approaches based on: (i) the use of geographic information systems; and, (ii) the development of oil transport probabilistic models.
- To design quantitative methods to estimate the magnitude of impact generated by oil spills at harbour areas.
- To validate developed tools by analysing the real effect on biological communities potentially affected.
- To perform a first approach to assess the environmental risk of diffuse pollution in marinas and fishing ports.
